Car Companies

At current, it's not unpopular to have a beef with car companies. However, I'd like to add my voice: Screw you, car companies. And not just domestic firms, either. You have all been at the forefront of the "Hey, here's something you can't possibly afford, but do you want it anyways? Great, we have credit available...just sign here!" movement. In general, I'm all for people having complete freedom to fuck up their own financial lives. But now it's affecting me. So, too bad. From now on, if you're not paying in cash, you get to drive a small sedan, station wagon, or a pickup truck. I'll determine your need. There will be one vehicle choice in each category. It will be cheap. Deal with it.

Dumb Slogan

Domino's latest slogan is "You got 30 minutes." This is immediately followed by the disclaimer that due to safety concerns, 30 minutes is not a guarantee and you may, in fact, got more. Why would you want a slogan you immediately had to follow with a caveat? Why not go back to the ad agency and say "Why don't we have our slogan be something that is...semi-true?" Today, while in a Domino's, I heard the girl taking an order on the phone say "You got 30 minutes...to an hour." I'm really hoping that it's not a corporate policy to always say "You got" x amount of time...but in any case, that just proved the point of what a dumb slogan it is. I'd love to know how much money they spent on it.

Seriously?

So, a guy gets trampled to death on Black Friday. I had actually been thinking to myself "Wonder who will get stomped to death this year?" It's sad that it actually happened. This kind of thing boggles my mind. People are that fucking stupid? Seriously? I want to go to the goddamn Wal-Mart and punch them all in the face. I have no problem with stating that every person in that Wal-Mart rush does not deserve to live.

A renewal?

Obviously, no one actually reads this blog. And I haven't posted in a year. But, I'm going to try to keep up with some better postings from now on. Maybe a year from now, someone other than me will actually look back at this post and note my renewed commitment.

Pet clothes

I just saw a commercial for pet clothes for the first time. Thankfully, it was at least at Petco- when dog clothes designers start putting up commercials on their own, I will run for the hills.

My thought: It is morally wrong to buy clothes for your dog when people are starving, genocide is occurring, etc. Furthermore, your dog hates it. And you.

Gchat moving on up

Gchat seems to be the choice of the young professional these days. This is probably due to the fact that you can use it quite easily from a web interface, but it's interesting to see. Messaging programs have large network externalities- the more who use the program, the more value it has to each user. Thus, it's hard to start a new messaging system as you need a large number of users to begin using it quickly. Gchat probably benefited by riding on top of Gmail- a product that does not have network externalities, and so is easier to turn into a success. Either way, I'm pleased- I've already given in to Google being controller of the internet. Besides, I couldn't imagine talking to anyone on AIM, with its bright little running man logo, past the age of 25 or so.

Robert Tinkler

This guy is the absolute epitome of an actor who takes bit roles and third-rate projects, and manages to get just enough work to stick around. His IMDB rap sheet causes one to think "that a was a movie/tv show/dvd?" at least 15 times. Personally, I thought his character in Harold and Kumar was well done.

Plus he has a funny name.
